MONDAY

TV: Pardon the Interruption (Monday, Aug. 24, ESPN). Took a break from Tony and Mike for a few months after almost never missing an episode since 2001. The coronavirus pandemic and general lack of sports was the main reason. But I’m back. PTI remains one of my all-time favorite TV programs.
TV: Big Brother All-Stars (Season 22, Eps 7-8, CBS). Hanging in there. I still can’t get over how seriously Julie Chen takes this show.
TV: Desus & Mero (Season 2, Ep 44, Showtime)
Sports: NBA Playoffs – Lakers 135, Trail Blazers 115 in Orlando (TNT)

TUESDAY

TV: The Circus (Season 5, Ep 10, Showtime)
TV: The Chi (Season 3, Ep 10, Showtime). SEASON FINALE. A seriously strong year from Lena Waithe and her cast.
TV: I May Destroy You (Season 1, Ep 12, HBO). SEASON FINALE. What an amazing effort from Michaela Coel. I’m in awe.
TV: The Daily Show with Trevor Noah (Season 5, Ep 145, Comedy Central)
TV: The Vow (Docuseries, Ep 1, HBO). NEW SERIES ALERT. These cult figures freak me out. I’m ready for more.
TV: Last Week Tonight with John Oliver (Season 7, Ep 22, HBO)
TV: Yellowstone (Season 3, Ep 10, Paramount Network). SEASON FINALE. The last few events here shook me to my core.

TV: The Real Housewives of New York City (Season 12, Ep 19, Bravo)
TV: Pardon the Interruption (Wednesday, Aug. 26, ESPN)
Sports: MLB – Game 1: Braves 5, Yankees 1 in Atlanta (Fox Sports Southeast) and Game 2: Braves 2, Yankees 1 in Atlanta (ESPN). Nothing like sweeping a series against a New York team — in one day!
TV: America’s Got Talent (Season 15, Ep 16, NBC)
TV: Big Brother All-Stars (Season 22, Ep 9, CBS). I’m getting into this show, but it’s nowhere near as good as Survivor. Sorry!
TV: Full Frontal with Samantha Bee (Wednesday, Aug. 26, TBS). She’s back!
TV: Corporate (Season 3, Ep 6, Comedy Central). SERIES FINALE ALERT. I didn’t know this season was cut short because of the coronavirus pandemic. A gem from the end of this brilliant era of Comedy Central. Favorite character: Lance Reddick’s Christian DeVille.

THURSDAY

TV: Reno 911! (Season 3, Eps 12-13, Comedy Central)
TV: The Daily Show with Trevor Noah (Season 5, Ep 147, Comedy Central)
TV: Love Island (Season 2, Ep 1-2, CBS)
TV: Pardon the Interruption (Thursday, Aug. 27, ESPN)
TV: Love in the Time of Corona (Season 1, Eps 1-4, Freeform). Better than it had any right to be. I related to so much. I just love Leslie Odom Jr. and L. Scott Caldwell.
TV: Big Brother All-Stars (Season 22, Ep 10, CBS). At this point, I’m pulling for Cody, David and Christmas (just because of her name).
TV: The Real Housewives of New York City (Season 12, Ep 20, Bravo). I actually had never seen a full season of a show from the Real Housewives franchise. Just here and there, mainly Beverly Hills and New Jersey. It needed to happen for a TV project now. I’m glad I committed to 25 episodes. I’ll miss these women. Sonja is my favorite. The epitome of spunk. (She loves the LGBTQ!) By a mile.

TV: Room 104 (Season 4, Ep 6, HBO). This one hit close to home. Two great performances from a pair of actresses putting it all out there.
TV: Real Time with Bill Maher (Season 18, Ep 25, HBO). Trey Gowdy was the first guest. Ugh. Such a hypocrite. He answered every question with a “both sides” explanation. Why watch?
TV: Reno 911! (Season 4, Eps 3-4, Comedy Central)
Sports: MLB – Phillies 4, Braves 1 in Philadelphia (FOX)
TV: Love Island (Season 2, Ep 4, CBS)
Sports: NBA Playoffs – Lakers 131, Trail Blazers 122 in Orlando (TNT)

SUNDAY

TV: Reno 911! (Season 4, Eps 5-6, Comedy Central)
Sports: PGA Tour FedEx Cup Playoffs – BMW Championship in Olympia Fields, Ill. (Final round, NBC). Some spectacular putts made this tournament one of the most exciting sporting events in quite some time. This weekend: the Top 30 at East Lake in Atlanta. Let’s go!
Sports: MLB – Braves 12, Phillies 10 in Philadelphia (ESPN). The Braves starting rotation’s situation is unsustainable. Thank God for the bullpen. A win’s a win!

TV: Reno 911! (Season 2, Eps 11 and 13, Comedy Central)
TV: ER (Season 13, Eps 11-13, Hulu). So long, Dr. Weaver. Complex and compelling, one my favorite characters on the small screen ever. I love her so much. Her goodbye embrace work with Abby made me cry.
Sports: MLB – Nationals 8, Braves 5 in Atlanta (Fox Sports Southeast).
Sports: NBA Playoffs – Trail Blazers 100, Lakers 93 in Orlando (TNT). As the playoffs open, I predicted Raptors over Bucks and Lakers over Clippers in the conference finals. After Milwaukee also lost Game 1 earlier in the day, it’s not looking great.

TV: Little Voice (Season 1, Ep 9, Apple TV+). SERIES FINALE. I was underwhelmed. Let’s just leave it at that.

TV: The Rachel Maddow Show (Friday, Aug. 21, MSNBC). I had to watch Rachel’s chat with Brian Stelter, whose buzzy book on Trump and Fox News comes out Tuesday. Along with Zuck and Facebook, Fox News and the awful people who run it are destroying America. It’s that simple.
Sports: MLB – Braves 6, Phillies 5 in Atlanta (Fox Sports South). The comeback kids do it again!
Sports: NBA Playoffs – Lakers 116, Trail Blazers 108 in Orlando (ABC)

TV: Maxxx (Season 1, Eps 1-6, Hulu). I really just wanted to watch this British import because of writer/director/star O-T Fagbenle, but I ended up being pleasantly surprised. It takes less than 2.5 hours.
Sports: MLB – Yankees 9, Braves 6 in New York (Fox Sports Southeast). Re: starting rotation – we’re on trouble, boys.
TV: America’s Got Talent (Season 15, Ep 11, NBC). I know one thing: Kelly > Simon. But get well, Cowell!
TV: Greenleaf (Season 5, Ep 8, OWN). SERIES finale. I thoroughly enjoyed this show from creator Craig Wright and the one and only Oprah (who acted in early seasons). From lead Merle Dandridge to dynamic supporting players like Lynn Whitfield and Keith David, it took me on a ride I’ll never forget. A spinoff is in the works, and I’m here for it.

WEDNESDAY

TV: Hard Knocks: Los Angeles (Season 15, Ep 1, HBO). Will the regular season even happen? We shall see …
Movie: Work It (2020, Netflix). A really thin plot and OK acting. But the music is amazing (if a bit distracting)! Roger Ebert: 2.5 stars (out of 4). Jason Creates: 2 stars (out of 4).
Movie: Howard (Documentary, 2020, Disney+). A wonderful profile of a brilliant man. I learned so much about him the movies he made possible. Roger Ebert: 3.5 stars (out of 4). Jason Creates: 4 stars (out of 4).

TV: Ted Lasso (Season 1, Eps 1-3, Apple TV+). NEW SERIES ALERT. I was really looking forward to this show. It did not disappoint. Good-hearted and just wanted I needed.
TV: The Real Housewives of New York City (Season 12, Ep 18, Bravo)
Sports: MLB – Marlins 8, Braves 2 in Miami (Fox Sports South). Four straight losses. Not good.

SATURDAY

TV: Room 104 (Season 4, Ep 4, HBO). Melissa Fumero delivers a very strong performance. I’m going to miss this show so much.
TV: Real Time with Bill Maher (Season 18, Ep 23, HBO)
TV: Reno 911! (Season 2, Eps 5-6, Comedy Central)
Movie: Boys State (Documentary, 2020, Apple TV+). This brought me back. I attended Boys State in Georgia in high school. I didn’t expect to feel goosebumps at the end, but I did. One of my favorite films of the year. Roger Ebert: 3.5 stars (out of four). Jason Creates: 4 stars (out of 4).

Movie: The Go-Go’s (Documentary, 2020, Showtime). This film was well done. I learned a lot about a band that, to be honest, I wasn’t all that familiar with.

TV: Big Brother All-Stars (Season 22, Ep 1, CBS). I haven’t watched this reality competition series in more than a decade, though I’ve read about all the drama. I want to check back in since there’s not much else happening. Join me!
TV: Corporate (Season 3, Ep 3, Comedy Central)
TV: Reno 911! (Season 1, Eps 1-2, Comedy Central). This show somehow slipped through the cracks, so I’m starting from the beginning. It’s gold. I love every member of the main cast. This should be so much fun.
Sports: MLB – Braves 4, Blue Jays 3 in Atlanta (Fox Sports Southeast). Markakis’ walkoff homer is exactly why he rejoined the team. For the A!
TV: Desus & Mero (Season 2, Ep 39, Showtime)

TV: Reno 911! (Season 1, Eps 4-5, Comedy Central). Still loving it. But YouTube TV is randomly missing the third episode of the first season. Huh.
TV: The Sopranos (Season 1, Eps 3-5, HBO). As a TV fanatic, I’m ashamed to say I haven’t seen this gem. It’s one of my new projects.

Sports: MLB – Phillies 5, Braves 0 in Philadelphia (Fox Sports South). Hello, Atlanta offense, are you there?
TV: Real Time with Bill Maher (Season 18, Ep 22, HBO)
Movie: Stockton On My Mind (Documentary, 2020, HBO). Michael Tubbs, the inspiring 30-year-0ld mayor in California, is one to watch. What a story, told expertly by director Marc Levin. Jason Creates: 4 stars (out of 4).

SUNDAY

TV: Reno 911! (Season 1, Eps 3 and 8, Comedy Central). I plan to watch two episodes a day. That will take me to around the end of September. Should be fun!
TV: ER (Season 12, Eps 21-22 and Season 13, Ep 1, Hulu). This season finale (as well as the season premiere) was intense. It’s the renowned medical drama at its finest.
Sports: MLB – Game 1: Braves 5, Phillies 2 in Philadelphia; Game 2: Braves 8, Phillies 0 in Philadelphia (Fox Sports South). The shortened doubleheader format is great, right?! I’m a fan.
Sports: Golf – PGA Championship at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco (Final round, CBS). Kudos to you, Collin Murikawa!
TV: Perry Mason (Season 1, Ep 8, HBO). SERIES finale. They definitely saved the best episode of the first season for last. I will tune in for Season 2, for sure.

TV: America’s Got Talent (Season 15, Ep 9, NBC). Having fun with this show this year. A lot of talent!

TV: P-Valley (Season 1, Ep 3, STARZ). Really getting into this creation from Katori Hall. Brandee Evans is a star. 
TV: Corporate (Season 3, Ep 1, Comedy Central). The number of time I laugh out loud keeps growing. A tremensous cast is doing great work.

Sports: Braves 7, Rays 4 in Atlanta (Fox Sports Southeast)
TV: Indian Matchmaking (Reality show, Eps 1-6, Netflix). Everyone seems to be talking about this show, so I decided to check it out. And I watched six episdoes before I realized I might need some sleep. Aparna has so many memorable moments. No judgment; just found it all fascinating.
TV: Corporate (Season 3, Ep 2, Comedy Central)

THURSDAY

Movie: The Weight of Gold (Documentary, 2020, HBO). Only one hour? Michael Phelps could have done so much more with this subject– the mental health struggles of Olympic athletes in the U.S. — but I appreciate the effort. Well worth the watch.
TV: Indian Matchmaking (Reality show, Eps 7-8, Netflix)
Special: 2020 GLAAD Media Awards (Live, YouTube). Pose and Schitt’s Creek are among the honorees. Bravo.

FRIDAY

TV: Desus & Mero (Season 2, Ep 37, Showtime)
TV: Little Voice (Season 2, Ep 6, Apple TV+). I had high hopes for this show, but it’s just not very good.
Sports: Braves 11, Mets 10 in Atlanta (Fox Sports South). What a crazy comeback. Baseball is special.

SATURDAY

TV: ER (Season 12, Eps 10-13, Hulu). The binge is still going strong. I am such a fan.
