What I Watched Yesterday (Sept. 28)
I’m always playing catch-up on Mondays. But there’s so much good TV to discuss. Let’s dig in!
TV: Big Brother All-Stars (Season 22, Ep 23, CBS). So. Many. Awful. People. At this point in the game, I’m pulling for Kevin or David.
TV: Desus & Mero (Season 2, Ep 50, Showtime)
TV: The Circus (Season 5, Ep 15, Showtime)
TV: Bob’s Burgers (Season 11, Ep 1, FOX). I have not been a big consumer of FOX’s animated slate over the years. My first college roommate was obsessed with Family Guy. But I’m going to give Burgers — a critical darling — a shot this year. I’ve got time.
TV: The Comey Rule (Limited series, Part 1, Showtime). Jeff Daniels, portraying former Attorney General Jim Comey, remains on the best actors working today. Part 2 concludes the series tonight. I’ll have more to say tomorrow.
TV: Lovecraft Country (Season 1, Ep 7, HBO). I’m starting to lose interest here, but the performances from Aunjanue Ellis, Jonathan Majors and Jurnee Smollett are sustaining me.
TV: The Vow (Docuseries, Ep 6, HBO)
TV: Power Book II: Ghost (Season 1, Ep 4, STARZ). Honestly, I’m much more interested in the Tariq’s storyline and the action on campus. But I’ve liked what I’ve seen in the first four episodes.
TV: Last Week Tonight with John Oliver (Season 7, Ep 24, HBO). Sunday’s tour de force concerning the Supreme Court is a must-watch. Further evidence of this show’s excellence.
TV: The Office (Season 3, Ep 22, Netflix)
TV: The Great British Baking Show (Season 11, Ep 1, Netflix). I’ve seen a few episodes here and there, but I’m dedicated to watching a full season. I can see where NBC’s Making It — one of my favorite reality competitions — got its vibe. This should be fun.
TV: Pardon the Interruption (Monday, Sept. 28, ESPN)
Sports: NFL – Chiefs 34, Ravens 20 in Baltimore (ESPN). After a very busy weekend, it felt weird focusing on just one game last night. I thought this exciting Monday Night Football matchup would be closer, but one thing is clear: Mahomes is in a class of his own.
TV: Love Island USA (Season 2, Ep 28, CBS). Who will be voted the winning couple? My guess: Caleb and Justine.
